Take Advantage of Local Search
Posted by Tracy Fredrychowski at 6:57 am in Uncategorized

Local search engines’ algorithms are, for the most part, independent of the main ranking algorithm. Thus, it’s essential to get your business listed and ranked in both, if you are even partially-dependent on local search traffic. At a bare minimum, you should submit your business to the following:

You should submit your website using the same contact information list on your website. Remember to use both product/service AND geographic keywords in your business title.

Is Your Web Site Making the Emotional Connection?
Posted by Tracy Fredrychowski at 10:56 am in Uncategorized

emotional connectionMany make “buying decisions” when they are moved emotionally? Other traditional media have made the most of these principles and taken advantage of them for many years, whether it is a TV commercial or an ad in a magazine. People are emotional beings and people make decisions (either good or bad) when they are emotional. If something causes a customer to become upset, they become angry and try and solve it. If they become upset enough…they’ll make a decision to perhaps discontinue your service and hire another service.

With the web being a multimedia experience, we have lots of opportunity to work with emotional content. After all, your visitors are just human beings too? We’re really no different online than offline. We have an important emotional side of us that can be appealed to.

If you are relying on graphics, photos, animated gifs or any type of images, you want a combination of quality with uniqueness. Will your image make your audience smile or will it make your audience cry? Where might it be appropriate to make your audience cry? Actually, all it takes it the right scenario.

Advice from Google!
Posted by Tracy Fredrychowski at 9:24 am in Uncategorized

Matt Cutts, a senior Google engineer, was recently interviewed and in the interview he offered some advice for small business.

1) Start a blog to give your company a voice. You have a unique personality and a blog is a great way to get heard.

Don’t worry about negative comments, as you can always moderate those or filter them out, allowing only constructive comments to be posted.

It’s important to understand the benefits that blogs have in terms of creating user generated content and the value of this content to search engines.

2) Definitely use videos. If you are creating a video this is a pretty simple process with great results.

All you really need to start with is a tripod, a camera, and a room. Then you quickly record it and put it on YouTube. There is very little cost and it’s very simple to start out.

So there you have it, business advice directly from the most widely known talking Google head… start blogging and use video. That combo will give you the most exposure and bang-for-the-buck online.

I couldn’t agree more. Start a blog and allow people to comment on your posts. That will literally force the search engines to come back and spider the new user generated content.

The video can be as simple as “show and tell” what you have. Think of it this way… if a picture is worth a thousand words, a four minute video his worth millions.

When you upload the video to YouTube, all you need to do, is link to the video from your blog, and you won’t pay a dime for hosting it, even if it’s watched a bazillion times.
